How could my credit rating be impacted by my divorce?

Your credit rating is a very important aspect of your financial health.  Considering the impact of the marriage and the divorce on your credit is a sometimes unpleasant but critical task.  Some will find their credit to be unscathed by the divorce and the marriage, but others find their credit damaged.  Any credit history that occurs during your marriage can potentially hurt your credit rating after the divorce.  A poor credit rating can affect yoru ability to get a loan at favorable terms.

After the divorce you need to consider multiple things.

  • First, how can I find out what my credit score is?  What does my credit history look like?
  • How can I remove my ex-spouse from my accounts, and remove myself from his/her accounts?
  • How can I build good credit history if I have little or no history?
  • How can I dispute or correct negative incorrect credit history?

The book we offer covers the above credit topics and more.
