How long will I need to pay child support?

Child support is usually paid until the child reaches adulthood (age 18).  If you have more than one child, your amount will decrease as each child reaches adulthood.  If there is a significant change in earning power for either parent, however, child support can be re-calculated.  Additional child support may be required if one of the parents receives a one-time boost to his or her income.  Usually there is an exchange of income clause in the marital settlement agreement which requires annual income disclosure from all sources.
